RCW PICKLEBALL CLUB RATING CATEGORIES

                                    OUR SIMPLE RATING CATEGORIES

​

Rincon Pickleball Club recognizes three categories of players.  We offer these categories to help players sign-up for Round Robins and identifying themselves to other players during open play.  These categories are intended to allow players to play with similar-skilled players, to comfortably develop their skills, and to have fun learning.

​

BASIC

​

     > Have taken at least one offering of Pickleball 101

     > Know serving and receiving positions on the court

     > Know basic strokes:  forehand, backhand, and serve

     > Generally aware of how scoring works

​

INTERMEDIATE

​

      > Know the general rules of play

      > Able to backhand, lob, dink

      > Moderate skill level and some consistency serving, returning serves, dinking, and lobbing

      > Capable of playing a medium to fast-paced game

      > Capable of playing a slower-paced dink game and longer lasting rallies

      > Still working on consistency and control of direction, depth, and power shots

ADVANCED / COMPETITIVE

​

      > Consistent and dependable strokes

      >  Direction control and depth on both forehand and backhand shorts

      > Reliable serves, lobs, overheads, approach shots, and volleys

      > Use the dink and drop shots to slow down or change the pace of the game

      > Demonstrates 3rd shot strategies -- drop shots, lobs, and fast-paced drive shots

      > Engage in aggressive net play and teamwork, i.e., move with and in support of partner

      > Completely understand the rules of the game and plays accordingly
